Silvia Lorenzi Come preparare le Tortine per gli uccelli
Ingredienti: 500 g circa di farina di frumento per dolci, 1 kg circa di farina per polenta di mais giallo, 500 g circa di zucchero (possibilmente grezzo), almeno 4 confezioni di margarina vegetale da 250 grammi.
Ingredienti facoltativi: uva passa, 1 o 2 mele tagliate a cubetti, fichi secchi tagliati a cubetti o strisce, 1 etto di semi di girasole, 1 bicchiere di riso crudo, 1 o 2 bustine di pinoli, una manciata di riso soffiato (per cani).
Si mettono in una terrina tutti gli ingredienti con l’esclusione della margarina. Si mischia tutto in modo da creare un prodotto il più possibile omogeneo. A parte si mette in una pentola la margarina e la si scalda a fuoco medio fino alla sua completa fusione. Si versa la margarina fusa sopra nella terrina sopra il miscuglio. Si mischia il tutto con un cucchiaione o con le mani sino ad ottenere un impasto il più possibile omogeneo. Con le mani si formano delle tortine a forma di palla (evitare di comprimerle troppo) che si mettono a raffreddare a parte.
Somministrazione
Le tortine vanno somministrate agli uccelli in luoghi non accessibili a cani e gatti perché appetitose anche per loro. Possibilmente vanno messe su davanzali, sopra i tetti, tra i rami degli alberi, ecc. Non appena qualche Pettirosso o Cinciarella si accorgerà della leccornia non mancheranno le successive scorribande di Passeri, Storni e Merli. Nelle giornate invernali di neve o gelo se si fornisce questo od altri alimenti per uccelli riduce o elimina la mortalità dei piccoli passeriformi che nell’arco di un inverno raggiunge anche il 70% di una sola popolazione.
Specie che si nutrono di questo alimento: Merlo, Storno, Cinciallegra, Cinciarella, Cincia Mora, Pettirosso, Passero d’Italia, Passera mattugia, Fringuello, Verdone, Ballerina bianca, Tortora dal collare orientale, Picchio rosso maggiore, Picchio verde, Codirosso spazzacamino, Gazza, Ghiandaia.
